This collection consists of a combination of personal and public correspondence. Several letters are from "Bill" to "Aunt Kitty" (their relationship with Silvio Lanza is unclear), all dated 1918. The collection also contains official documents issued by the government, dated 1917-1918, the first three issues of "The Lakehurst Bomb", a newsletter printed in 1918, and an essay written after 1945 about the effects of centrifugal force on pilots. The collection is arranged chronologically.

Vito (Silvio) Francis Lanza served the United States in World War I, seeing action in France. As a civilian, Lanza resided in Long Island, New York, where he acted as managing clerk in a law office.
